The 8 Health and Wellness Trends Shaping 2025

The most exciting health and wellness trends are those that go beyond traditional fitness to bring a holistic approach to your entire wellbeing.

Wellbeing trends come and go – but they each have their own unique benefits that boost your physical and mental health. You may identify with some trends more than others, and that’s natural – it’s simply about finding what works best for you and your lifestyle, and aligning with the trends that suit your individual needs and goals.

Read on to learn about the current health and fitness trends of 2025 and how you can already enjoy some of them at FS8.

1. AI-enhanced fitness and nutrition

Artificial intelligence (AI) has revolutionized every industry – and wellness is no exception. The main advantage of AI in fitness heading into 2025 is its ability to create, tailor and customize workout plans to you. Through the convenience of AI, trainers and fitness enthusiasts cut down on admin time, while also experimenting with new exercises and ways of working out In terms of nutrition, AI tools make it easy to create healthy diet plans tailored to your specific dietary choices and requirements.

2. Gut microbiome health

The link between your gut microbiome and your health is another important wellbeing trend heading into 2025. Your gut microbiome refers to the collection of bacteria (or microbes) living in your gut. Your microbiome influences how effective your digestive system is, and the health of your digestion is linked to your nervous system and mental health¹.

The key to a healthy microbiome involves learning how to cultivate balance through nutrition and mindful eating, as well as enjoying a diverse and balanced diet full of fresh whole foods, fruit, vegetables, beans, nuts, and whole grains.

3. Activating the Vagus Nerve

Vagus never activation is a health and wellness trend that you’ll already be doing by mastering the pilates breathing techniques in FS8 workouts

Your vagus nerve is a long cranial nerve that runs from your brain to your gut. Stimulating your vagus nerve sends electrical impulses throughout your body, which contribute to reducing stress and preventing disease. There are a variety of ways to activate your vagus nerve – we recommend our top five vagal toning exercises to get you started.

4. Cycle syncing

If there’s a key through line knitting all the current and health fitness trends of 2025 together, it’s customization – and all the trends we’ve discussed here are about implementing wellness methods that can be adjusted to meet your needs.

Cycle syncing – which involves aligning your exercise and recovery with the phases of your menstrual cycle – is just one example of 2025’s tailored approach to trends. Cycle syncing involves performing high-energy workouts when you’re naturally feeling stronger: and enjoying the benefits of active recovery when your hormones levels are low.

From FS8 Blast to FS8 Restore, our workouts vary in intensity, meaning you can find a class that meets you where you’re at. Our trainers can also modify exercises to accommodate any body aches mid-class.

5. Sustainable wellness

Sustainable wellness isn’t a new trend – instead, it’s one that continues to grow as the world pivots to cleaner, greener ways of living.

There’s a variety of sustainable practices that can boost your health and wellbeing. In, 2025 sustainable wellness could look like cycling to work, eating locally sourced food, wearing environmentally friendly workout gear, designing ergonomic workplaces or attending inclusive FS8 classes that enhance mobility

Sustainability is a large, but exciting, wellbeing trend to stay on top of – because what’s better for the planet is almost always better for you!

6. Inclusive fitness spaces

Making exercise spaces more inclusive is another trend that fitness studios, gyms and boutique workout centers are continuing to build on heading into 2025.

This wellbeing trend involves welcoming – and engineering specific classes or spaces for – people of all backgrounds, cultures, ages, disabilities and levels of experience. There are many barriers that can stop people from exercising – which is why the team here at FS8 strives to make our studios as welcoming as possible. That could be helping you overcome anxiety at the gym or championing the benefits of pilates for over 60s. One of the things we love about group fitness is that it establishes a sense of belonging, and helps people stay consistent in their exercise journey. In 2025, we’ll continue to ensure our workouts are inclusive and accessible – to everyone, every time.

7. Micro-workouts

One theme many of the current health and fitness trends have in common is convenience – micro-workouts in particular.

Micro-workouts (also known as exercise snacks) are short bursts of physical activity that you can easily slot into your day. These short bursts improve your fitness2, are time-efficient, and can be carried out in a variety of different spaces: such as your home, workplace or even a hotel room.

Example of micro workouts are:

  • Planking for 30 seconds, repeated twice.
  • 10 to 15 squats repeated five times.
  • Stair climbing for one minute.
  • Mountain climbers performed for 40 seconds, repeated three times.
  • Jumping jacks for one minute, repeated twice.

Many of the mat exercises at FS8 are easily adaptable for micro-workouts. These are useful as quick stress-relieving exercises, especially when you’re traveling and have only your bodyweight to use as resistance.

8. Contact-free recovery and longevity

There are many new and exciting industry tools and techniques designed to optimize your recovery – and infrared saunas, cryotherapy, contrast therapy and pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) technology and compression equipment are all growing ways to reduce muscle soreness after workout.

However, don’t let wellbeing trends draw you away from the fundamentals of recovery – and the role of nutrition in your fitness regime will always play a massive role in how you recover from intense exercise. Active recovery at your local FS8 Restore class is another effective way to recover – and has the bonus of being an opportunity to socialize with like-minded people, as well!

We hope you’re just as excited about 2025’s health and wellness trends as we are. For more empowering ways to enhance your wellbeing – in 2025 and beyond, read future trends: looking to the future of fitness next.
